Oh No They Didn't!!! America Is Paying For Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. To Be Portrayed As A Chinese Murdering Thug Socialist Bastard?!!!

Talk about a country outsourcing its culture.
Can you imagine a Taliban artist being hired to sculpt the likeness of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.?
As soon as he (and, yes, you had better damn well believe that under the Sharia it would be a HE) finished it he'd blow the damn thing up in the likeness of the Buddhas at Bamiyan.
It is disgusting that an artist approved by the mudering thug bastards of China has been hired to sculpt a memorial to such a man of peace as Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. It's even more disgusting that this same propoganda tool of an artist for the Chinese government is sculpting a likeness of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. that presents him in the likeness of a tyrannical murdering thug like China's Mao Zedong.
It is WAY past time to put a dead stop to this incredible stupidity.
And why in the hell is a Chinese artist sculpting a statue of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in the first place?
How many African-American sculptors from Atlanta, Georgia have been hired by China to produce monuments in honor of China's murdering thug asshole rulers responsible for the continueing inhuman campaign of terror against the people of Tibet?
I firmly believe that the statue of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. that will eventually stand on the Mall in Washington, D.C. should be carved by the hands of an African-American sculptor from the South.
Further, the stone that should be used should be quarried from Stone Mountain in Georgia.
Stone Mountain is the largest, bald, granite mountain in the world. It juts oddly from the Georgia crust. It is an indication of the vast quantities of granite lying just beneath the Georgia topsoil. Stone Mountain is also home to one of the South’s most renowned Confederate memorials. A large carving of General Lee, Jackson, and Jefferson Davis stands apart from the side of Stone Mountain. The nightly laser light shows attract thousands each year. Margaret Mitchell’s epic book and subsequent movie, Gone With the Wind, has become synonymous with Atlanta during the Civil War.
It's long past time for America to flesh out the post-Civil War narrative of Stone Mountain.
I encourage the U.S. Commission of Fine Arts to do the right thing with respect to the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial. They know what the right thing to do is. They just need to do it.
UPDATE:
I never thought I'd live long enough to see this day.
Although I do take issue with this statement:
For the record, I'm not on board with those who complain that the King monument is being made by a foreigner. Americans have a great tradition of bringing in the best art from abroad and (eventually) making it their own: The Statue of Liberty was designed, engineered and financed by Frenchmen.
The history of the concept and design of the Statue of Liberty has nothing to do with the history of Martin Luther King, Jr. This is an incredibly ridiculous statement by Gopnik.
The issue is this:
America has an opportunity with the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial statue to support the best art shaped from the best rock found in Georgia by the best American artist from the South who has the strongest personal connection to the life, struggles and triumphs of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
America has an opportunity to support an artist who has been through the hellish horrors of segregation in the South.
America has an opportunity to support an artist who has walked in the footsteps of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
I don't care how xenophopic it may sound, but a foreign born artist will never be able to effectively communicate the heart, soul and passion of what Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. means and represents to those millions who suffered the most under the post-Civil War chains of oppression that he struggled to break.
UPATE II:
Marc Fisher gets it right with this:
The federal panel wants the sculpture reworked "to return to a more sympathetic idea." But the government's arbiters of art seek far too limited a fix. The problem is not merely one of artistic vision. The centerpiece of the memorial, known as the Stone of Hope, has gone completely off the rails. The solution is to start over.
However, he seriously stumbles here:
So far, opposition to outsourcing the sculpture has come mainly from African Americans and the U.S. granite industry. "White people are afraid to attack the monument because they fear they'll be perceived as racist," Young says. "But Dr. King challenged us to talk about race without making accusations of wrongdoing."
WRONG. PLENTY of white people who are NOT white artists and/or white art critics and/or white art dealers/collectors/art world movers & shakers are speaking up in oppostion to this travesty.
However, the muffled sound of silence that is being heard from many members of the whiteartworld™- most of whom are liberals, I might add - is due to the fear of being perceived as playing into the hands of those conservative Americans who currently oppose, and who have long opposed, the terrible tyranny of the brutal communist leaders of China, a gang of evil thugs who hold human rights at the very bottom of their list of concerns, as the world has only recently witnessed with the murderous crack-down on Tibet.
There's a precedent for this type of cowardly silence. Remember the dead silence of the vast majority of liberal white art critics and liberal white artists when Theo van Gogh was assassinated by a radical Islamofascist, a despicable silence motivated by fear being perceived as being in the War on Terror camp of George W. Bush?
With respect to China, however, it not so much George W. Bush that generates the silence, it the fear of upsetting the world art market that is currently generating untold profits for the whiteartworld™, as it furiously seeks to expand its reach into the pockets of billionaire Chinese collectors.
UPDATE III:
It will be a difficult process to select a statue for Dr. King; that much we already know, but the current Maoist-Stalinist piece of merde being constructed inside the Chinese BORG is not the answer.
Can I get a no shit from the amen corner?
